About The Owners

Shelby's Eden is a home based business and is owned and operated by husband and wife animal lovers Joe and Nancy. The opening of a warm and friendly facility in which a person could safely leave their pets, free of guilt, was their dream when they moved to Yucaipa from Los Angeles in early 2007.   They would not have wanted their own pampered pooch to sit on a cold cement floor in chain linked kennel.  For the five years prior to their move from the city, Nancy managed a boarding facility in the West Los Angeles area.  Her clients were thrilled to have a cage-free environment as an alternative to cold steel cages.  While Shelby's Eden is tiny by comparison, the owners like the intimacy, which enables them to become closer to both their two-legged and four-legged clientele.

When Joe and Nancy purchased their Yucaipa home and property, it was done with their future hopes in mind.  Presently, the couple still maintain jobs outside the home, but manage to work opposite schedules so that one or the other can be on the property almost all of the time.  Nancy has recently cut back her hours at The Yucaipa Animal Placement Society to allow more time for the business to grow.  Joe, who works in law enforcement,  continues to work full time outside the home.

Nancy has nearly twenty years of professional experience working in the animal industry, and relates to the needs of the animals on many levels.  Joe, who has enjoyed a lifetime of pet ownership, also brings a lot of experience into the business.
